All the words of the songs on Djarridjarri are in Aboriginal which gives them a real authenticity. Some of the words have been taken from ancestral songs with the approval of community elders. “The songs by Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupinu incorporate words and concepts, images and sensations which are celebrated in the ancestral songs of the Gumatj people”. (A transcript of each song is available in the cover with the CD). Words taken from one song ‘Let’s Work Together’ advocates Australians standing together and flying the Australian flag high….When will we all become one, and help each other for this place…Let us become one and think of our elders and follow them with our minds and our feet.
